This is an interesting article, because most technology services will make you believe that in Real Estate. Do you need Pay-per-click? Do you need a great CRM? Need a great system to reconnect with everyone in your rolodex? Well, kinda sorta….you need a rolodex for many things, but then you need to ASK for referrals. I was blown away to learn that 54% of buyers and 64% of sellers work with Realtors referred to them from friends and family. Compare that to the 1-2% of Realtors found from Search Engine Optimization or Pay Per Click. Or the latest gee whiz great technology from an IT company. This is really going to crush those tech brokers who seem to think that all the buyers and sellers are picking a Realtor from the web or their smartphone. While it IS important to have a web presence, it is apparently not the deciding factor.
Picking A Jacksonville Real Estate Agent?
0% of buyers were impacted from the use of Direct Mail to get them to pick a Realtor. ZERO percent, that is a HUGE number, and especially considering that most Realtors are claiming Direct Mail is making a comeback. The other methods of using the yellow pages or other ways of calling the sellers were not as impacting. The use of a friend making an introduction and referring business to the Realtor makes the most sense.
So before you go chasing the next shiny object in Real Estate, look in your rolodex. Call the people you know, your friends, family and expand from there and let people know everywhere you go that you are a Realtor. You are in the business to help others with the purchase and sale of real estate. It makes a difference, and these numbers prove it.
Ask your friends and family
In addition to the numbers, it would appear that the more years you have in Real Estate. Hence the more friends, references and referrals too. So keep working to build your base. Meet as many new people as you can and build your circles of friends. Because as you stay in Real Estate, the numbers prove that you can build a fantastic business with a number of years in the business.
